Sewing Tag

Hope you all had a good Christmas. Today I am sharing with you a tag using Mixed up Magazine printables Sewing Ephemera which can be found here.

Firstly I printed out the images onto a piece of white card and cut out the ones I wanted, after which I coated them in decoart crackle glaze to give them a vintage look. Whilst these were drying I cut out a tag fron greyboard. I covered the tag in a clothes pattern I got from the local charity shop.

I coloured the tag with a mix of antique linen and vintage photo distress ink as well as colouring a white zip using various blue inks. I stamped onto the tag using vintage photo and finnabair crackle stamp and then attached the zip and printables along with a maroon lace applique

I attached buttons, sewing machine metal charm and made an embellishment by gluing small safety pins to a button to finish off the tag.

Thanks for stopping by.

Mark Gould Workshop

On Saturday I was lucky enough to attend a workshop taught by Mark Gould and very well organised by a lovely lady called Bev. A grungy industrial clock was the make of the day and I loved learning all the techniques.I will definitely be using the techniques I learnt there on other projects in the future.

This a picture at the start with all the lovely Ladies and Gentlemen.

This how the kit came to us. Sorry about the poor picture, I was a little excited to start and didn't check how it turned out.

Here is my finished clock. Really pleased with how it turned out

Here are a couple of close ups of the individual pieces and the rusty middle. I did take step by step photos but you will just have to do the workshop to find out how to do it for yourself.

I had an absolutely fabulous time and can't wait for the next one!

Mars Attacks

Well I am finally blogging again! Today I am showing you a journal page I have done inspired by Sarah Jessica Parker's character (plus dog) in the film Mars Attacks.

I started by using brushos in my recycled old book journal and once dried I used memento teal, cottage ivy and black through stencils

I then added the dog, cut out from an old calendar on the right page

I then stamped out a skull from Visible image Mr Bonejangles set on white card and cut it out and stuck it on the dogs head.

I then added a phrase which came to me whilst making this page

Unfortunately this wasn't very clear to read so I decided to redo it on a brushoed page in permanent marker. I then cut it up and stuck to the page. Much happier with this.

Hope you enjoyed this page. I am adding this to the Dream in Darkness Challenge

Thanks for looking

Cardboard Canvas

I have been saving packaging to use in my crafting and have so much of it now. I acquired some squares of cardboard from the box my new brake disc for my car were in. They are the perfect size to work on, a little over 8x8.

Having ripped some of the cardboard to expose the ridges I put piece of 8x8 brick paper onto and put some Decoart Crackle glaze through a stencil and left it to dry naturally. You must leave it to dry naturally otherwise you will get a fab glaze but no crackle (I left something on a radiator) A wash of Gesso was added and then I added mica powder mixed with a little pva glue to the cracked areas. Some metal embellishments were then added and also some flowers. Decided didn't think the brass was quite right so I added a little decoart Americana Sea Breeze to create a patina. The Skull was then Stamped and embossed using a brass embossing powder. I put a little of the sea breeze around the edges.

Very pleased with the results of this one. Hopefully I will start doing step by step photos soon.

Journalling

I am really into Art Journaling at the moment and here is a page I have made in an old fiction book.

Firstly I put down a layer of gesso and then painted over this in docrafts pumpkin artiste paint. Once dried I added black homemade texture paste through a couple of stencils.

Once all was dry it was time for stamping. All the stamps used came from Bee Crafty including the bubble stamp, stamped in silver. After I was happy with the page I added a border of white gesso.

Hope you enjoyed the page. I need to learn to take photos at each stage which is easy said than done when you get in a creative frenzy. Oh well, I can but try. I am entering this into the Dream in Darkness March Challenge

Welcome and Snowy Greetings!

Welcome to my new blog. I have decided a new year and a new start. With all the talk of snow and the weather, I have done a journal page including snow!

These pictures were taken in 2010 when I actually got a decent amount of snow. I also got some in 2013 but it is rare here. I printed the pictures and mounted them onto book pages as well as printing the title and edging it with salty ocean distress ink. It was then stuck onto a piece of snowy paper I had and put into my journal.

I am entering this into Katie Lamb's Challenge.

Journal Page

Here is a journal page using one of my favourite techniques, ink smooshing, got to love a good smoosh.  I have ink smooshed and then done so...
